The History Of High Farm Holiday Park
Two generations ago Joseph William Thompson had his sights set on emigrating to Australia as a “Ten Pound Pom”, but fate had different plans for him. Smitten by a local girl called Amy they decided to settle here at High Farm, beginning with just a few hens and a modest milk-round and they worked hard together to build a family home and small farm to pass onto the next generation.
Our parents, Alan and Edna, “took over the reins” nurturing the pedigree dairy herd that we grew up alongside, gradually learning from them how to look after both the livestock and farmland. As they eased themselves into retirement significant changes occurred in both the farming industry and our own personal circumstances so we could no longer continue the traditional farming practices. Instead, we embarked on a journey to breathe new life into the farm whilst maintaining our rural heritage and preserving the beauty of the local countryside.
We are proud to extend a warm welcome to you all from everyone here at High Farm Holiday Park.
